Facial Reconstruction

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons work to treat a variety of facial injuries. These professionals need to be highly skilled in emergency care, treatment methods for acute injuries, and long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction. While proper treatment is obviously critical for physical reasons, the emotional health of the patient is also at stake after an injury to the face. Read more about Facial Reconstruction.

Jaw Surgery

Orthognathic surgery will be required when your jaws don't meet correctly or if your teeth just don't seem to fit within the jaws. The teeth can be straightened out with orthodontic treatments, but a misaligned jaw will need corrective jaw surgery to repair. Not only does this procedure improve the appearance of the face, but it will help to ensure that your teeth are functioning properly and meeting correctly. Read more about Jaw Surgery.

Oral Pathology

In a healthy mouth, the inner lining will be covered with mucosa, a special type of skin that is smooth and pink. When changes to the appearance of the mucosa are noted, this could be a warning sign that something is going on with the pathology of your mouth, and the most serious concern is oral cancer. Pediatric Surgery

In rare circumstances, children are born with extra teeth or experience unusual growths or infections in the mouth, and oral surgery might be required. This can be a scary experience for a child, and as their parent, it may be even worse for you. We feel strongly about treating your child's surgical needs while also keeping the emotional needs in mind, so we will help them to feel secure and safe while explaining treatment using words that are understandable. Pre-prosthetic Surgery

Pre-prosthetic surgery involves prepping your mouth before a prosthesis (partial or complete dentures) is put into place. When you wear dentures, they will sit on top of the bony ridge in your mouth. To ensure that they fit well and feel comfortable, it is essential that the tissue and bony area are the right size and shape. Read more about Pre-prosthetic Surgery.

Impacted Canines

If your dentist has used the term "impacted" in regards to your canines, you might not be sure what exactly that means. An impacted tooth is one that is "stuck" and unable to erupt through the gums in order to function as intended. This often happens with the third molars, otherwise known as the wisdom teeth. Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that is used to fix problems associated with the bone or joints. It involves transplanting bone tissue, and in the field of dentistry, it is most commonly completed so that there is enough bone available to support dental implants. Read more about Bone Grafting.
